Skills in Schools – Parental Survey The skills and capabilities of people are ultimately the basis for global prosperity and competitiveness. At GEMS, we are constantly innovating our provision to equip students with the academic learning and practical skills to optimize their future prospects; to ensure access to further education at top universities and future employment in their chosen sector or industry. GEMS Skills in Schools is a new and exciting approach to help children and young people in all our schools to develop the skills they need to be prosperous in the ever increasing complexity of the 21st century global environment. GEMS is designing a range of programmes to give students opportunities to build skills alongside academic learning. The purpose of this survey is to understand parental attitudes to the proposed programmes, the level of demand, and the approach that parents would prefer to how these programmes are delivered. The questions are designed to help us create programmes that best suit your children’s needs. Students: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/59HXQN5 Parents: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Z6G6P8P Well done to Miss Cooke and all the boys and girls for taking part in such a successful Science Week! Earlier this year, Samsung Gulf Electronics announced the start of its “Launching People” campaign – a programme rooted in discovering and supporting talented individuals, the best of whom will be rewarded with the practical, financial and technological support they require to get their ideas off the ground. Dino was asked to join the esteemed panel of mentors to champion and nurture the education projects (as a representative of GEMS). The great news is – he’s reached the final stages with two excellent and innovative education projects and entrepreneurs. Here’s where he needs your support! The final round is down to public votes – and the current number of votes to beat is + 2,600. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Dino Varkey to draw on stories from our schools regarding the impact education can make. Also, for our students to find out more about education social entrepreneurship. How can you vote? Simply follow this link to vote! https://apps.facebook.com/launching_uae/?fb_source=bookmark&ref=bookmarks&count=0&fb_bmpos=2_0 The two education projects are: SmartDesk and Learning on the go Voting itself will only take a minute but that minute could turn the next big education idea into a reality! Good luck, Dino Varkey, from all at GWPS 2C experimented with eggs to find out just how effective a seatbelt can be when you are in a car, should you be in an accident. Welcome Back everyone, we hope you had a refreshing Spring Break and are excited about the term ahead... |
